Spring Workwear

When I first started working at an office back in 2015, I struggled to find my place in the buttoned up office culture. I was at a conservative company, passionate about sustainable fashion— a liberal woman trapped in a cubicle, refusing to wear a bra. I wanted to express myself in the workplace without being confined to its rigid standards.

So, I left. I quit and I moved from Santa Barbara to Los Angeles in pursuit of my sustainable fashion career dreams. Not sure if working in the industry was the thing for me, I bounced around different jobs. I dove deep into my yoga studies and found joy in facilitating creative events and experiences. All this to say, I’m back in an office now.

Luckily, this office isn’t as grey and has way better things to worry about than what I wear to work. (Yes, I got a stern talking to at my first office job regarding my attire.)

Of course, there is still a professional standard to withhold when you’re working for someone else. I’m at a traditional, “old-school” architecture firm where the dress code is business casual. I’ve loved the challenge of curating outfits to wear to work that meet this requirement while showing off my authentic style at the same time. After all, my biggest fear is looking like a carbon copy office robot.

I’ve opted for layered looks because the weather fluctuates both in Santa Monica and in the office. Check out my favorite ‘fits from this spring below if you’re in need of some inspo. ✨
